Nationwide R&A Tour Offers Short Films for Children of Different Ages

The R&A Tour organised by Helsinki International Film Festival – Love & Anarchy is focusing on short European children’s films this season. The films can be booked and screened between October 1, 2026, and April 30, 2027. The tour films can be ordered by, for example, cinemas, film clubs, events and municipal cultural services.

Love & Anarchy Festival’s School Kino (Pulpettikino) programme for children and young people can now also be seen in other parts of Finland. Launched in 2011, School Kino project aims to encourage a new generation of viewers to discover cinema and to promote film education in schools and municipalities. Over the years, the activity has expanded from a few festival screenings into a significant School Kino screening series that now reaches audiences nationwide.

This season’s tour offers two programmes of short films aimed at different age groups:

For our youngest film enthusiasts, we have once again curated the hugely popular School Kino Shorts: Animated Favourites for the Little Ones, recommended for children aged 3 and up in early childhood education, pre-school as well as for grades 1–2. Comprising four European animations, the screening presents a charming collection of stories featuring all sorts of characters going on adventures in different settings and finding the best ways to resolve tricky situations. The films take viewers on a journey to discover, for example, the life of a kitten and the cooking adventures of an alien! As the films contain no dialogue, this visually captivating programme is ideal for the very smallest viewers, whilst also still engaging early school-aged children.

Recommended for grades 3 to 6 School Kino Shorts: Nordic Films for Primary School comprises fresh Nordic short films that introduce young viewers to a wide range of situations and emotions – including challenging ones – from a child’s perspective. The films from Sweden, Denmark and Norway explore themes such as family and friendships, as well as hobbies. The films feature Finnish subtitles. Please note the films do not have English dialogue or subtitles.

Educational materials prepared by Koulukino (School Cinema Association) are available for both of the screenings (in Finnish/Swedish).

The films can be booked and screened between October 1, 2026, and April 30, 2027. They are available to cinemas nationwide, film clubs, various events, and municipal cultural services. The tour programme is available in DCP format, delivered to the screening venues via Gofilex digital distribution service, as well as a video file. A screening fee is charged per showing (200€ + VAT 25,5 %).
