Park Chan-wook’s most iconic film, the masterful revenge thriller Oldboy, will be screened in R&A’s special screening in a 4K restoration.

Oldboy won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival in 2004 from a jury led by Quentin Tarantino, with Peter von Bagh serving as a member – the only Finn ever to do so. The Hollywood remake was directed by Spike Lee.

Dae-su (Choi Min-sik) is suddenly imprisoned in a cell resembling a hotel room, but the reason for his captivity remains a mystery. When he is finally released after 15 years, he begins a revenge quest filled with brutal violence and hidden schemes. Complicating matters is his budding romance with a young sushi chef, Mi-do (Kang Hye-jeong).
