Love & Anarchy and Topi Borg join forces for April’s R&A Presents screenings

Rakkautta & Anarkiaa

April’s R&A Presents screenings on April 11 will feature films selected by Topi Borg: the cult classic family film The Iron Giant and the outrageous pastiche Fucktoys. The screenings celebrate the launch of the new show Topi Borgin elokuvakerho, with Borg in attendance to discuss the films with the audience.

At the R&A Presents screenings on Saturday, April 11 at Bio Rex Lasipalatsi, audiences will watch and discuss films together with R&A superfan Topi Borg. Borg has chosen two very different films for the evening’s program: the animated adventure The Iron Giant (1999) and the indie gem Fucktoys (2025).

After both screenings, Borg will discuss the film with the audience. Viewers who ask the best questions will receive DVD prizes.

“With this event I want to highlight unity and compassion. How for a few hours we can be under someone else’s skin and experience the world and the people in it,” Borg says. “I also want to emphasise something that makes cinemas shine in today’s world, where stopping and looking at yourself isn’t what the algorithm wants. The fact that you can’t pause or skip a film with your fingers. Here it is. If you don’t like it, walk out. No one is stopping you.”

“Topi’s extensive knowledge of cinema and his devoted participation in film festivals impressed our entire festival team years ago,” says R&A Head of Programming Outi Rehn. “It’s wonderful to present films that Topi has wished for—after all, listening to the wishes of the festival audience is at the core of what we do. We make the festival specifically for the audience, and it’s fantastic to organise this event together with Topi.”

Director Brad Bird’s debut film The Iron Giant is a cult sci-fi animation about the friendship between a nine-year-old boy and a giant robot in 1950s America. What happens when the Cold War–era government learns of the robot’s existence? Bird—who has gone on to direct films such as The Incredibles and Ratatouille—delivers stunning hand-drawn animation and masterful storytelling that resonates with audiences of all ages. The film will be screened from a 35mm print with Finnish dubbing.

Actor Annapurna Sriram’s directorial debut Fucktoys is a love-and-anarchy-soaked odyssey through Trashtown, United States. Sex worker AP learns during a tarot reading that she is cursed and sets out on a feverish journey to break the curse—one full of sudden twists and dazzling visual spectacle. The outrageously surreal satire features François Arnaud, known from the hit series Heated Rivalry.

Topi Borgin elokuvakerho (Topi Borg’s Film Club), launching on Yle Areena on Monday, April 6, is a wise, surprising and insightful 10-episode videocast about films. In the program, Borg and a rotating guest watch a film together and discuss it as well as life in general. Guests in the first season include President Tarja Halonen, Jasper Pääkkönen and Erika Vikman.

Tickets for the R&A Presents screenings are now on sale on the Love & Anarchy website. In addition to single tickets (€13 / €11 for discount groups), a combo ticket for both films (€22) is available. A children’s ticket for The Iron Giant for ages 10 and under costs €6.

The R&A Presents screenings bring the spirit of the Love & Anarchy Festival to Helsinki’s big screens outside the main event in September. The 39th Love & Anarchy Festival will take place September 17–27, 2026.
