The ticket sales began on Thursday, September 4, for the 38th time. The system was familiar, and we decided to adjust the site’s capacity to the maximum to ensure a smooth purchasing experience.
It was anything but smooth. Our site faltered and stumbled, crashed completely, and struggled to get back on its feet. The result was an exasperating fiasco that went on for hours.
Our deepest apologies to all of you who had to spend hours battling technical difficulties due to this.
The technical disaster was a sum of many factors. One major reason was the sheer number of customers, which exceeded not only our expectations but also the numbers of all previous years. The site’s capacity had been set to its maximum, but even that wasn’t enough: our website simply couldn’t withstand the rush.
Yesterday’s technical issues were exceptionally difficult, and we are doing everything we can to make sure this doesn’t happen again. We are thoroughly reviewing the chain of events and learning from all of this. Next year will be better!
Our website is now running smoothly, and purchasing tickets works well. Except for a few of the most popular screenings, there are still plenty of tickets available. Our customer service is currently very busy, but we will serve each of you as quickly as possible. Issues related to series cards are being resolved manually for now. Please note that we cannot resolve ticketing issues through our social media channels.
The festival is less than two weeks away, and soon we’ll be celebrating the best days of the year together! We are truly grateful that so many of you want to take part in the festival again this year.
