The spring season of quality cinema has begun! Helsinki International Film Festival – Love & Anarchy offers audiences outstanding films in the monthly “Love & Anarchy Presents” screenings. The first special screenings will take place on February 22nd, featuring an exclusive preview of The Last Showgirl starring Pamela Anderson as well as the triple Oscar-nominee Sing Sing with Oscar-nominee Colman Domingo as the lead.
“Love & Anarchy Presents” screenings will bring to the big screen some of the most anticipated new releases, international festival favorites, and new cinematic gems that might otherwise not be shown in Finnish theaters. You can expect the guaranteed Love & Anarchy quality! The screenings are held on the last Saturday of every month at Bio Rex Lasipalatsi, in collaboration with the newly founded Cinema Gilda.
The spring season kicks off on Saturday, February 22, when Love & Anarchy presents two eagerly awaited new films: Greg Kwedar’s Sing Sing and Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl, both having their Finnish premieres at the screening.
Pamela Anderson shines in The Last Showgirl, delivering a phenomenal performance that has impressed both critics and audiences alike. The themes of Anderson’s own life are also reflected in the story of her character, Shelley. Shelley has spent over 30 years as a showgirl in Las Vegas; the stage and the women she shares it with are her caring, quarrelsome, and glamorous family. But when the show is unexpectedly shut down for good, the future appears far less glamorous. Shelley and her colleagues are forced to reevaluate their life choices and navigate what comes next. The film is distributed in Finland by SF Studios.
The latest release from A24, Sing Sing, has already toured numerous film festivals around the globe, earning rave reviews along the way. This touching drama stars Colman Domingo (If Beale Street Could Talk, Candyman) as Divine G, a wrongfully imprisoned man who discovers a new sense of purpose through a prison theater group. However, tensions rise as new members join the group, while Divine G continues to fight for his freedom. The film has earned Oscar nominations for Best Actor, Best Original Song, and Best Adapted Screenplay. Sing Sing will be distributed in Finnish theaters by Cinemanse/Scanbox Entertainment. Coming to select theaters in the spring of 2025.
In February, our excitement only grows as the Oscars are just around the corner. The R&A Spring screenings offer a fantastic chance to see the Oscar-nominated Sing Sing on the big screen before the awards night. But the Oscar glamour doesn’t stop there—we will step into the spirit of the season even between the films!
Tickets for both screenings are now on sale! Individual movie tickets are €15, or grab a combo ticket for both films of the evening for €25. Discounted tickets (€13) are available for students and seniors (70+), with proof of eligibility checked at the door.

Love & Anarchy presents screenings aim to deliver film experiences that allow audiences to dive deeper into themes in a more immersive and communal way than traditional screenings. R&A presents will also bring to the audience concepts never seen before at R&A!
With its Love & Anarchy presents screenings, the festival aims to offer its audience high-quality cinematic experiences beyond the main autumn event. Under the leadership of Pauliina Ståhlberg, who began as HIFF’s Executive Director in early 2025, the goal is to expand the festival’s year-round activities and integrate films even more closely into the daily lives of Helsinki residents.

The festival has excellent relationships with distributors and Helsinki’s cinemas, and it’s exciting to collaborate outside the festival season — both with the new Gilda cinema and for the February screenings with Cinemanse and SF Studios,” Ståhlberg commented on the spring season.
