In his debut feature, director Mika Gustafson manages to maintain a beautiful balance between sibling bonding, anarchic freedom and constant insecurity and proves to be a great director of children and young actors. Skillfully, he bypasses the clichés about “abandoned children in danger”. Hirokazu Kore-eda’s magnificent Nobody Knows (L&A 2005) comes to mind as a point of comparison.
