The traditional festival clubs of We Jazz and Love & Anarchy will continue with a Blue Note -themed concert. After the Blue Note Records: Beyond the Notes documentary at Savoy Theatre, the stage is given to the Aleksi Heinola Quintet, which interprets the gems from the golden age of the Blue Note Records. The concert produced by We Jazz offers classics from masters of jazz, such as Wayne Shorter, Joe Henderson and Kenny Dorham.
Aleksi Heinola Quintet, led by the drummer Aleksi Heinola, draws heavily on the soulful and swinging hard bop of the 1950s and 60s – a sound that the Blue Note Records is best known for. Their debut album Drift was released in the spring under the label Jazzaggression causing a stir in Finland and globally, raising the quintet to one of the most interesting domestic jazz bands.
