The fourth installment of HIFF’s industry sidebar Finnish Film Affair (22–24 September) gets guests from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA). HFPA shares the yearly Golden Globe Awards for film and television. The association has two Finnish members, Kirpi Uimonen and Erkki Kanto.
2015 is the second year that HIFF is recognized by HFPA. It means that the association can send its members to the festival to search for potential Golden Globe nominees.
Finnish Film Affair is a yearly international industry event that showcases Finnish films and provides a networking platform for attending professionals. Approximately 300 film industry professionals from Finland and abroad are expected to attend. Among the more than 70 foreign guests are representatives of film sales companies, distributors, festival programmers (e.g. Sundance, SXSW) and trade press (The Hollywood Reporter, Indiewire, Screen International, Variety).
The FFA program includes 60 Finnish films. 30 of them are recent releases and other 30 are works in progress. For the first time FFA awards the Best Pitch in the works-in-progress presentation with 3 000 Euros worth of international marketing funds. The theme of this year’s professional panel is Developing a film for the American markets.
