Helsinki International Film Festival and Helsinki Design Week partner to bring two HIFF films on silver screens at preview screenings in September. BOTH PREVIEW SCREENINGS ARE NOW SOLD OUT.

The two films are documentaries on rebel fashion designers – the punk icon Vivienne Westwood and iconoclast Alexander McQueen.

Westwood: Punk, Icon, Activist offers a rare glimpse into Westwood’s life story from her beginnings as the innovator of punk fashion to her status as one of the top fashion designers in the world. The documentary includes comments from Westwood herself, whom The Guardian called a grumpy delight in their review of the film.

Another rebel Alexander McQueen brought darker themes into the fashion, contesting what was held beautiful and sacred in the industry. The documentary McQueen (dir. Ian Bonhôte ja Peter Ettedgui) tells the tragic story of how his aesthetics developed simultaneously with the deterioration of his mental health.

The preview screenings of Westwood: Punk, Icon, Activist and McQueen will be held September 12th and 14th at Korjaamo Kino and Riviera. They will include discussions and surprises.

Westwood: Punk, Icon, Activist and McQueen are a part of the 31st HIFF’s Filming Fashion film series.

The 31st HIFF – Love and Anarchy will be held September 20th to 30th.
