A true documentary tribe comes together as HIFF joins with Docventures, Doc Lounge, Yle and Helsinki Festival to screen the visually stunning Samsara when the much-anticipated movie picnic makes a return at the end of August.

Samsara, the film to be shown at the picnic, charmed the HIFF audience last year with its visual splendour. With their previous feature Baraka, director Ron Fricke and producer Mark Magidson established themselves as masters when it comes to combining music and stunning images from all around the world. In Samsara, they continue their stylistic path, taking viewers on a breathtaking journey through sacred grounds, disaster zones, industrial complexes, and natural wonders.

The HIFF movie picnic takes place on Sunday, August 31st at 9 PM at the lawn on the Citizens’ Square next to the Music Centre in Helsinki.

The event is hosted by Riku Rantala and Tunna Milonoff from Docventures.

The film Samsara will be preceded by a screening of the short film Utopia, which has been produced by a team of young persons hired by Helsinki Festival and the City of Helsinki to work with art, creating short films as a summer job.

The movie picnic is free of charge. Bring your picnic basket and blanket and join us in the dark August night!
