Several films screened in advance at HIFF get their theatrical release during the autumn and spring. William Friedkin‘s KILLER JOE and Goro Miyazaki’s FROM UP ON POPPY HILL saw their Finnish premieres last week, on September 28th.

This Friday, on October 5th, Arto Halonen‘s documentary WHEN HEROES LIE gets its theatrical release. The daring film was seen as the Finnish Film Gala Selection at this year’s festival. Next week, from October 12th, Oliver Stone‘s SAVAGES and Sarah Polley‘s TAKE THIS WALTZ can be seen in cinemas.

In November, premieres include Ben Affleck‘s ARGO, Valérie Donzelli‘s DECLARATION OF WAR, Jacques Audiard‘s HIFF Closing Gala Film RUST AND BONE and Olivier Nakache‘s and Eric Toledano‘s INTOUCHABLES. December releases include Ken Loach‘s THE ANGELS’ SHARE and Christian Vincent‘s HAUTE CUISINE.

The HIFF Opening Film, BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD directed by Benh Zeitlin, sees its premiere in January.

THE MARSHAL OF FINLAND can already be seen on Yle Areena. The telvision premiere is on Saturday, October 6th at 9pm on Yle Teema.

CHICKEN WITH PLUMS is screened at Orion theatre in October and RENT-A-CAT in January. Read more.
