Accessibility to venues

Venue specific information is collected with help of Riesa.

Entrance

The accessible entrance to Bio Rex is not from the main entrance, but from the other side of the building, from the Lasipalatsi Square. The accessible entrance is at street level and is located at Lasipalatsin aukio, Helsinki. The sign on the door of the accessible entrance reads Amos Rex.

When the museum is closed, the accessible entrance is through the Amos Rex door on the Lasipalatsi Square side by calling the staff’s phone number which can be found on the door. There is a canopy in front of the barrier-free entrance to await the arrival of the taxi service.

Navigating indoors

The accessible entrance leads to the Amos Rex museum lobby and gift shop, located on the first floor. The Bio Rex foyer and auditorium are located on the second floor, which can be accessed using the elevators in the museum gift shop. These are found at the end of the hallway to the right. When arriving to the second floor, the foyer leading to the auditorium is located on the left. The entrance to the foyer has a doorstep that is 2,5 centimetres high. The entrances to the auditorium are located at both ends of the foyer. The auditorium has space for 2 wheelchairs, the spaces of which can be found on the right side of the auditorium at the end of row 9. The theatre does not have an induction loop.

Accessible toilets

Update 21.3.2024: Unfortunately, during Love & Anarchy Spring Break there is no accessible toilet in use.

Normally, an accessible toilet can be found in Lasipalatsi restaurant, located on the same floor as the foyer and the auditorium. This can be accessed using a ramp leading to the restaurant. The accessible toilets here are located on the right side of the stairway landing. The doors here are not electrically operated but are light and easy to use. The toilet has 80 centimetres of space to move around on the both sides of the seat. There is no space for assistance on the back of the seat. The toilet is in use even if the restaurant is closed.
